The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have confirmed the incident.

LASEMA said four people have so far been rescued and are presently receiving treatment while the search for other passengers is ongoing.

But NEMA Southwest spokesperson, Ibrahim Farinloye, said: “An open canoe hit a log while sailing and capsized with 10 passengers. Marine police, LASWA, NIWA and local divers have rescued eight people while searches for a woman and the driver of the canoe continue.”
