Birnin Kebbi, NIGERIA – Eighteen first-term governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday converged on the Kebbi State Government House for a closed-door strategic meeting aimed at reviewing party unity and intergovernmental collaboration frameworks.
The session was presided over by Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, who serves as the Vice Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF). Okay News reports that the national meeting was hosted by Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, alongside the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, who joined to provide technical context on federal-state economic alignment.
The cross-regional attendance included the executive governors of Sokoto, Jigawa, Plateau, Delta, Ekiti, Taraba, Ondo, Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Benue, Kogi, and Enugu states, among others. State house correspondents gathered at the complex noted that while a comprehensive communique has yet to be formally issued, the agenda leans heavily toward programmatic harmonization, strengthening subnational fiscal architecture, and formulating unified strategies to manage ongoing post-primary dynamics across key regional structures. Meanwhile, the first-term governors of Cross River, Niger, and Katsina states were absent from the Birnin Kebbi consultations but reportedly transmitted official apologies to the forum’s leadership.
