192 Zaria Residents Sue El-rufai Over Plan to Demolish Their Houses

Governor Nasir El-rufai of Kaduna state has been sued by no fewer than 192 residents of Zaria area of the state over threat to demolish their houses.

The houses are said to be located in Nasarawa in Zaria.

According to the counsel to the aggrieved parties, Bello Ibrahim, the government trespassed on the property in contention.

“The plaintiffs are the owners of the respective houses, including the residences and development of land and landed property within the larger subject of this suit. This is situated immediately behind the library and fire service office,” he said in a statement.

“It stretches down to the stream by Kaduna Road, extending round the edges of the stream land (Fadama land) from South western direction to the north eastern direction.

“This is through the edges of Magume area, up to the bordering of the Barau Dikko Hall of Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH) in Tudun Wada, Zaria.

”He averred that the land terminates at Kofar Doka, Zaria, opposite the round about from the western direction, which is an area of 14.2 hectares, upon which the plaintiffs had built various houses and residences and a community Mosque since 1978.

The statement further stated that the plaintiffs are entitled to payment of N50 million as general damages for the trespass by the defendants.
