2 Killed, 11 Injured As Suicide Bomb Attack Hits Maiduguri

The police in Borno state have confirmed that a suicide bomber invaded a community in Maiduguri killing two people and leaving 11 others injured.

ASP Murtala Ibrahim, the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer of the command, made this known in a statement on Wednesday.

Ibrahim explained that a male suicide bomber targeted an armoured vehicle of the Police Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) and detonated the explosive strapped to his body.

He said that the explosive blew up the insurgent and killed one other person, while four policemen and seven other persons sustained various degrees of injury.

According to him, the victims have been referred to University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital for treatment.

The police spokesman added that normalcy had been restored and the area sanitised.
