2018 AWCON: Super Falcons Advance Into Semi-finals After 6-0 Win Against Equatorial Guinea

Nigeria’s Super Falcons of Nigeria advanced into the semi-finals of the 2018 AWCON following a comprehensive 6-0 win against the Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Saturday.

The defending champions finished second in Group B with six points behind the Banyana Banyana of South Africa who top the group with seven points from three games.

The Super Falcons will face Cameroon in the semi-final on Tuesday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Reigning African women’s footballer of the year, Asisat Oshoala scored a hat trick in the game to laid to rest criticisms about her performance from the previous two games.

Thomas Dennerby’s charges dominated the opening exchanges and were rewarded for their efforts when Francisca Ordega opened scoring in the 10th minute.

Oshoala doubled Falcons lead three minutes later with two other strikes in the 22nd and and 4th minutes respectively.

France- based forward, Desire Oparanozie scored Nigeria’s fifth goal of the game three minutes after the break

Dimunitive midfielder, Rita Chikwelu netted her side’s sixth goal of the game three minutes after the hour mark to move into the semi-finals of the comeptition.
