1) Why did you break up in the first place?

The most important question of them all. Seriously though, if you originally broke up for a solid reason, then you should probably not get back together. And if cheating was involved, do not go back. I repeat – do not get back together!

2) How long has it been since you broke up?

It’s true – people change. But depending on how long it’s been since the romance, the compatibility may no longer be there. If you broke up within the last year, then take a second and think about what’s different between then and now. Refer back to the first question – why did you break up in the first place?

3) Are you using your ex as a rebound?

Let’s face it – using your ex as a rebound is not always the greatest idea. It might seem so simple to go back to what’s comfortable, but what good can come of it? You might be lonely now, but trust us, there are plenty of other fish in the sea.

4) What are your friends and family saying?

We all know that advice from our loved ones can be very helpful in these situations. If they have serious concerns – they are most likely valid. Hear them out.

5) Will this make you happy?

In the end, you have to ask yourself – will you be happy if you get back together with your ex? Is it a temporary solution or are you in for the long haul? Have a proper think before diving back in. And always remember to trust your gut instinct. It never lies.
