Zion Pilgrims Christ School, Kagadama, Bauchi, says it has graduated 50 children of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), from 2014 to 2015.

Mr Joel Jijinge, Proprietor of the school announced this when Director of USAID/Nigeria Mission Mr Michael Harvey, visited the school as part of his three days tour of Bauchi on Thursday.

Jijinge explained that the graduates were the first set of children recorded in 2014, “as we registered 33 children from the IDPs families while 17 children came from the host communities.”

He said the school has 50 other children aged between six years and 12 years attending lessons under the non-formal education system of the school.

Jijinge said the children attended lessons three times a week and would be admitted into the formal education after their graduation.

He said USAID was paying N3, 060 per child for the nine months period the children would complete their studies.

The proprietor said USAID was also paying N150 per day for boys and N180 per day for girls who were undergoing basic literacy classes in the school.

He commended USAID and Bauchi State Government for assisting the school.

The Director of USAID/Nigeria Mission, Mr Michael Harvey, commended the authorities of the school for assisting the displaced children.
