An aircraft belonging to XeJet Airline skidded off the runway at the domestic wing of Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos State on Saturday morning.

Fortunately, there were no casualties, according to a statement by the airline.

The aircraft, an Embraer 145 with registration 5N-BZZ, was operating on behalf of NG Eagle Airlines and suffered a runway excursion while landing at Murtala Muhammed Airport’s 18L runway at approximately 12:29 pm.

The aircraft had arrived in Lagos from Abuja and had about 52 persons on board. XeJet Limited confirmed the incident and stated that they are currently working with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB), and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NISB), as well as other associated agencies, and will issue a formal update in due course.

This incident comes less than a month after a similar incident involving a Dana Air aircraft at the same airport.
