A total of 542 Nigerians evacuated by the Federal Government arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe Int’l Airport in Abuja today.

According to the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, the flight touched down at 4:29 am on Sunday, 23rd October 2022.

The passengers who were on board the Max Air Ltd chartered flight include 79 males, 460 females and three infants.

On arrival, health officials screened the returnees. They were cleared by the Nigeria Immigration and given transport fare to return to their various families.

Okay.ng reports that the United Arab Emirates government on Friday announced a visa ban on Nigerians, adding that all submitted applications are rejected and fees non-refundable.

The ban was announced in a notice issued by UAE immigration authorities to its trade partners in Nigeria including travel agencies.

Nigerians living in the Middle East country have been faced with many challenges, including the sentencing of a Nigerian woman, identified as @dunchichi on Twitter, who was reportedly sentenced to a one-year jail term by the United Arab Emirates government for a social media post, showing how some Nigerian nationals were illegally detained at Dubai international airport.
