76 Killed, Many Injured by Cattle Rustlers in Zamfara – NEMA

No fewer than 76 people have been killed and many others injured with thousands of cattle carted away by cattle rustlers in Zamfara State.

Giving the breakdown yesterday when officials of the Sokoto State correspondent chapel paid a courtesy call on National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Sokoto zonal office, the acting Head of Operations, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states, Tanimu Thickman lamented that people don’t know the responsibility of the agency.

According to him, NEMA coordinates the efforts of rescue teams and render assistance where necessary.

Lamenting how the activities of armed cattle rulsters has gone viral lately within the zone, Tanimu said, just between November 2015 and January 2016, the bandits have killed 76 people in 3 local governments of Tsafe, Bungudu and Maru all in Zamfara state.

“From our records, between November last year and January this year, the armed cattle rsutlers have killed 23 people in Maru LG, injured many with about 5 sustaining gun shot injury. They are carted away with about 704, 303 livestock and a total of 13, 605 person were affected.
