FG Approves 4 Private Colleges of Education

The Federal Government has granted provisional licences to four new private Colleges of Education to commence operation in the country.

The colleges are: Oswald Waller College of Education, Shendam, Plateau State; Pan African College of Education, Offa, Kwara State; Diamond College of Education, Aba, Abia State and Bilyaminu College of Education, Dass, Bauchi State.

Speaking at the presentation of their certificates, the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), Prof. Monday Joshua, said the new colleges met the minimum standards and requirements set by the commission to operate, adding that the approval is part of government’s efforts to increase teacher education in Nigeria.

The NCCE Executive Secretary disclosed that the accreditation process is an ongoing programme, adding that 11 colleges have so far being accredited to award the Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE) certificates across the country.
