The Lagos State Government has uncovered 459 civil servants illegally operating multiple salary accounts.

The government said in consultation with the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System, NIBSS, using the Bank Verification Number, BVN of active employees, it discovered that 459 employees operate multiple salary account.

The report said the discovery of the illegal multiple accounts had saved the State a total of N1.8 million per month.

The government said disciplinary measures would be taken against the affected staff.
“The officers would face necessary disciplinary action in line with the Public Service Rules,” the government said.

Meanwhile, the state government disclosed that the STO, in collaboration with the Office of Finance in the last three months processed and facilitated the collection of Development Policy Operations, DPO III, which is a World Bank loan of $200 million (N39 billion) to cushion the 2016 budget on capital expenditure and enhance the provision of infrastructural facilities that would have multiplier effect on social and economic activities in the State.
