In a statement signed by one of DSS Operatives, Tony Opuyo said the militant who was operating under the nom-de-guerre “General-Kill and Bury”, has confessed and owned up to some criminal activities committed by the JNDLF.

The Department of State Service, DSS on Saturday announced the arrest of notorious criminals, principally Niger Delta militants, kidnap gangs and members of Boko Haram insurgents in different parts of the country.

Key among the alleged the gangs/ syndicates arrested across the country was one Jones Abiri, aka General Akotebe Darikoko, the alleged leader of Joint Revolutionary Council of Niger Delta Liberation Force, JNDLF.

DSS, in a statement signed by one of its operatives, Tony Opuyo said the militant who was operating under the nom-de-guerre “General-Kill and Bury”, has confessed and owned up to some criminal activities committed by the JNDLF.

The Service said its investigations revealed that Darikoko was behind the threat to launch missile attacks against selected targets in Abuja including the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock as well as the mastermind of the recently circulated hoax of planned overthrow of President Muhammadu Buhari by the military.

The secret police said the militant who was arrested on 21 July has also confessed to being behind the vandalism of Nigeria Agip Oil Company (NAOC) trunk line in Ogboinbiri, Southern Ijaw LGA and bombing of oil pipeline belonging to Shell Development Company (SPDC) at Brass creek on 8th July, 2016, both in Bayelsa State.

DSS also alleged that Darikoko sent threat messages to managements of NAOC and SPDC demanding for the payment of N500m and N250m respectively.

Also, the Service said in the statement that on 22 July, it arrested one Chukwunyere Austin; alias Okwaa at Total petrol station, along Aba road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The Service said Okwaa has been issuing death threats against the former Acting-Managing Director, NDDC, Ibim Sementari.
