Nigeria moved up 4 spots and are now ranked 11th in Africa in the latest FIFA Ranking released on Thursday.

Wins against Tanzania and Zambia in high profile matches ( Afcon qualifier and World Cup qualifier) coupled with the poor results for some of the Continent’s top teams made sure the Gernot Rohr tutored side jumped further up the ranking.

The Super Eagles have seen a steady rise up the ranks in the continent and have the chance to improve their standings come November 12 in the World Cup qualifier when Nigeria host Algeria – ranked 3rd on the continent.
In September, a 1-0 home win against Tanzania saw the Three-time African Champions climb three spots, reaching 14th place in Africa and 64th in the world.

The latest move saw the Country jump 4 places to 60th in the World and a place outside of Africa’s top 10.

The cash strapped NFF have not been able to organize grade A friendlies in the last two International windows and there are yet no indications that the Super Eagles will play any before or after the Algeria November 12 clash in Uyo.

A win against Algeria , who have seen their form and rating also drop in recent times will certainly propel the Super Eagles even further up the ranking ; a testament to how much improvement the Super Eagles have experienced with Gernot Rohr in charge.

FIFA says the next edition of the World Ranking will be released on 24 November.
