No fewer than 373 out of the 2705 registered Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 corps members posted to Katsina State have been redeployed, at their request, to different states in the country.

The NYSC state coordinator in Katsina, Mr. John Okpo, confirmed this in an interview with journalists yesterday shortly after the closing ceremony of the orientation course for all the corps members at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Katsina.

Okpo however disclosed that about 5000 corps members had been assigned to the state in the next batch, adding that the NYSC will open a second camp for the corps members at Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Training College in Katsina.

“Our moderate achievement of the policy objectives of the orientation course within this period would not have been possible without the consistent assistance of the Executive Governor of Katsina State,” he stated.

In his address, the State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, represented by his special adviser on youth development, Aminu Khalil Ibrahim, said his administration is making necessary effort to end the rejection of corps members by the state agencies as the federal government had issued a circular concerning the rejection of corps members by federal agencies.

Masari also enjoined the corps members to adjust quickly at their places of primary assignment and interact with members of their host communities to find out their felt needs.

The governor told the corps members that any of the identified problems could easily be articulated into award winning project, promised to encourage those who embark on individual community development of the state.

On security in Katsina, he said: “There is a strong security apparatus throughout the state. The security arrangement is essentially to guide and protect you in your places of primary assignment.”
