President Muhammadu Buhari has placed a telephone call to the Minister of Youth Development and Sports, Solomon Dalung, to condole him over his wife’s death.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, said this in a statement on Tuesday.

“The President, who is currently away on vacation, implored Barrister Dalung to take solace in the testimonies of those who knew the late Mrs. Dalung very closely, and bear witness to a life characterized by kindness and honesty,” Akande stated.

He said the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo had also been in touch with Dalung to express condolences on behalf of himself and the government and people of Nigeria.

Akande quoted Osinbajo as describing the deceased as a strong pillar of support for her husband.

He said Buhari and Osinbajo prayed that God give Dalung and his family the strength to bear the “untimely loss.”

According to him, they also assured the minister “that Nigeria stands with him and the entire family at this difficult time.”
