Presidency Reacts to Rejection of Ibrahim Magu As EFCC Chairman by Senate

The Presidency has reacted to the rejection of Ibrahim Magu as the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission by the Senate.

The reaction is coming almost 24 hours after the Senate turned down the request of President Muhammadu Buhari for the confirmation of Magu.

Magu is holding the headship of the anti-graft agency in acting capacity.

The Senate turned down Buhari’s request to confirm Magu based on a damning report by the Department of State Services, which is an arm of the Presidency.

Reacting to the development on Thursday, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, said the Presidency was still expecting official communication on the issue from the Senate.

Adesina said it was only then the Presidency will react to the development.

He said: “The Presidency will respond to the non-clearance of Magu as EFCC boss, after it receives official communication in writing from the Senate.”
