The Lagos State Government on Monday, disclosed that it has began installation of 13, 000 Closed Circuit Television, (CCTV), cameras, aimed at increasing security in the state.

Commissioner for Science and Technology, Olufemi Odubiyi, disclosed this at the 2017 Ministerial Press briefing to mark the state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode’s second year in office.

The government explained that the installation would be in phases, adding that the installation of 300 in the first phase have commenced.

He lamented that the government was forced to review the strategy for the installation of the CCTV cameras across the state, following scarcity and fluctuation of forex in the country.

The government last year unveiled plans to install the CCTV cameras across the state.
