Male Suicide Bomber Killed In Failed Attack at University Of Maiduguri

The Public Relations Officer of the Police Command in Borno, Victor Isuku, has confirmed the killing of a suspected suicide bomber after a failed attack at the University of Maiduguri on Saturday.


 

Isuku in a statement in Maiduguri, said that a lone male suicide bomber detonated explosives strapped to his body.

”The bomber had taken cover in a ditch within the neighbourhood of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) Children Secondary School, at the eastern end of the campus.

”The bomber sighted security personnel coming towards the direction of his hiding place and hurriedly detonated his explosive, killing himself only,” he said.

The information officer of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in the North-east, Abdulkadir Ibrahim, in a statement said that the aim of the bomber was to get to where students were gathering.

”Unfortunately for him the IED exploded and killed him. No casualty was recorded.

”Emergency workers from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and that of the state (BOSEMA) were drafted to the scene.

”The corpse of the suspected suicide bomber has been deposited at Borno specialist hospital,” he said.
