Messi Speaks to Coutinho About Barcelona Move – Report

Lionel Messi has reportedly held talks with Liverpool star Phillipe Coutinho

Philippe Coutinho, 24, is thought to be a long-term target for Barcelona as they consider options to replace ageing club legend Andres Iniesta.

The Catalan giants are keen to make impact signings ahead of next season as they look to make up the ground they lost on La Liga and Champions League winners Real Madrid.

And midfield seems to be a particular area of interest as the likes of Arda Turan have failed to impress in the centre of the park over the last couple of seasons.

Now, it’s been reported that Lionel Messi has spoken to one potential signing, Coutinho, about a potential move to the Nou Camp.

Don Balon say the pair had a chat after Brazil’s recent 1-0 friendly loss to Argentina on June 9.

Their report claims Coutinho wouldn’t consider leaving Liverpool for any club other than Barcelona.

He’s a big fan of the Anfield side and would like to keep playing for Jurgen Klopp.

But Don Balon’s article adds that he could be pushed towards Barca should they make an offer for him as he likes the idea of playing alongside Messi and Neymar.

Coutinho starred for Liverpool last season, scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists despite missing several games through injury.

He’s expected to be a big part of Klopp’s plans going forward should he remain at Anfield.
