Female Suicide Bombers Attack UNIMAID Leaves 16 Dead, 13 Injured

The University of Maiduguri and other locales in the city were on Sunday night and Monday morning attacked by suicide bombers.

The attacks, which were carried out by female bombers, has claimed the lives of 16 persons and left 13 others injured.

This was disclosed by the Borno State Commissioner of Police, Damian Chukwu.

“We recorded the death of 16 persons, including the suicide bombers, and injuries to 13,” said Mr. Chukuwu.

He said one of the attacks took place at 10 pm on Sunday at the University of Maiduguri security post.

This was followed an hour and a half laer by multiple explosions at Zanari, Jere local government area, on the outskirts of Maiduguri, when two bombers detonated explosives in a residential building, killing eight persons and injuring 11.

One of the female bombers was captured alive but succumbed to injuries sustained from the blasts of the female bombers.
