Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State has paid N3.6m fines to secure the release of 61 prison inmates in the state.

The gesture was to enable the inmates to regain their freedom to celebrate the Eid el-Fitr with their families in their respective communities.

This was disclosed in a statement by the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Abdu Labaran, on Monday in Katsina.

He said the beneficiaries were drawn from various prisons in Katsina, Funtua, Daura, Dutsin-ma, Kankia, Jibia, Malumfashi and Mani.

The media aide also said the administration would continue to design policies that would improve on the living condition of people in the state.
