Music star, Peter Okoye of Psquare and his brother, Jude Okoye have both reacted to the plans by the Federal Government to ban artistes from making music abroad.

Lai Mohammed, minister of information, on Saturday said the government had taken steps to get the Nigeria Broadcasting Code (NBC) to put an end to the trend.

He had said: โ€œThis government has agreed that henceforth, whatever we consume in Nigeria in terms of music and films, must be made in Nigeria.

โ€œWe cannot continue to go to South Africa or any other country to produce our films and then send them back to be consumed in Nigeria.โ€

Reacting, Jude who manages the affairs of Psquare took to Instagram to lambast the federal government, describing the plan as an exercise in hypocrisy.

โ€œAn industry they NEVER encouraged, supported or empowered is what they now want to control. Let all of you stop running to abroad when you are sick,โ€ he wrote in part.

โ€œYou people are the ones refusing to fix our health facilities so u travel out when mosquito bite una. So why tell us where to record when u canโ€™t provide uninterrupted power here in Nigeria.

โ€œSometime I wonder how we got it all wrong.โ€
