I Stand By My Statement On Buhari’s Health – Gov. Fayose Insists

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state says he has no regrets for saying President Muhammadu Buhari was critically sick and on life support.

This comes days after the presidency released pictures confirming that some APC governors and the party’s national chairman visited the president in London.

Fayose, in an interview posted on his Facebook page, said the handlers of the president failed to produce evidence contrary to his claims, until after four weeks.

“It is our duty as leaders to be consistent. What I said about the president is very clear. I said that the president at a pointbefore this visit (the governors’ visit) was incapacitated and had been on a life support. I stand by it and I have no regret for that statement.

“Thank God that the President is getting better. But what I said was the truth.”

Maintaining that he doesn’t wish President Buhari dead, the governor said the Nigerian leader should declare his health status to Nigerians.

He said, “The President’s life should be an open book. Look at Senator McCain, he said he has brain tumour. That doesn’t make him anything less, but he is being honest with the people that elected him.

“Aside the president’s ailment, the fact remains that the president is not strong again. When you see the pictures, the president is frail. It is not a must that we must hold on to power when we don’t have the strength.

“I have nothing against the president, Nigeria is more important. Nigeria is a country that needs help at this time. As it is the president can equally go home to rest.”
