Manchester United Boss, Jose Mourinho, has said new signing Victor Lindelof did not feature in the West Ham game because he still needs time to settle down.

Speaking after the emphatic 4-0 win over the Hammers at the Old Trafford, Mourinho said it is not usually easy for players coming from another league.

Mourinho, who partnered Phil Jones and Eric Bailly in central defence during the match, said: “I think the Super Cup with Real Madrid was too early for him (Lindelof).

“He played game because Jones and Bailly were both suspended.

“I had players coming from different leagues to the Premier League and normally it is not easy.

“Lukaku and Matic have years of experience of the Premier League.

“Ricardo Carvalho was one of the best defenders in the history of the Premier League but in the beginning, he struggled. Victor needs time and he will get time.”
