The federal government has called on the media to stop mocking its declaration of war against corruption.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said this in Abuja on Monday at the 68th General Assembly of the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON).

He said rather than mocking it, the media should join hands with the government in its determination to stamp out corruption in the country.

“We are not saying that the media should not criticise the fight against corruption, but they should stop mocking us.

“The fight against corruption must not be seen as Buhari’s fight alone.

“Fighting corruption anywhere in the world is like fighting a lonely road.
“Most Nigerians were direct beneficiaries of corruption, hence resistance,” Mohammed said.
