Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state has approved the construction of extra 285 roads and other projects in the state.

Ambode said this on Tuesday during a stakeholders’ meeting with Executives of Community Development Associations, CDAs in Ikeja.

The governor, who was represented by his aide on Communications Akeem Sulaimon, noted that the move is part of measures to ease transportation in the country.

According to him, communities in the 57 councils would be assisted in executing self-help projects. He informed that about four to five self-help projects would be executed in each of the 57 councils across the state.

“The projects will be funded by the state government. The projects embarked upon by the CDAs and the CDCs are complementary projects because the funds used in constructing the projects were contributed by the residents and the projects include construction of roads, streetlights and others. These projects will ease life of the residents,” the governor said.

In a related development, the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority announced that Ambode also approved the construction of four new bus termini in Agege, Ojota, Ajah and NAHCO near the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja.
