Former Adamawa Governor, Saleh Michika Dies at 77

The first civilian governor of Adamawa state, Saleh Michika has died at 77.

The ex-governor was reported to have died in the early hours of Sunday after being rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

In a statement from one of the family members, Aminu Iyawa, “Michika was rushed to Federal Medical Centre on Saturday afternoon for medical attention by family members”.

Also, confirming the death, the Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Yohanna Mathias, noted that that Governor Mohammed Jibrilla, visited the ailing former governor while he was in the hospital and will be cutting his visit to Mubi short to attend the funeral which will be conducted this afternoon according to Islamic rites.

Abubakar Saleh Michika was born 1941, he was the first civilian governor of Adamawa State, from 2 January 2, 1992, to November 17, 1993.

He was a member of the then ruling National Republican Convention (NRC).
