The Bauchi Government has declared a three-day mourning over the death of the Senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District Ali Wakili.

Wakili passed on, Saturday, after a brief illness with flags set to fly at half-mast over the period.

In a statement, Governor Mohammed Abubakar described Wakili as a vibrant Senator whose contributions will be missed on the floor of the Senate Chambers.

According to Abubakar, the lawmakers contributions strengthened the national discourse.

“The Executive Governor of Bauchi state has, therefore, declared three days of mourning during which time flags will fly at half-mast,” the statement added.

“He has also suspended all state duties in Abuja and is returning home to mourn after witnessing funeral prayers in the nation’s capital.

“The governor has similarly directed the reduction, by two hours, of the closing time of workers in the state during the three days of mourning.

“He takes solace in the qur’anic injunction that every soul shall taste death and therefore, prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed legislator also prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the immediate family the fortitude to bear the loss.”
