Lawmakers in the Ondo State House of Assembly on Tuesday impeached their Deputy Speaker, Iroju Ogundeji.

The deputy speaker, who was removed after 18 out of the 26 members had signed for his removal, was immediately replaced by Bimbo Fajolu.

Ogundeji was impeached due to allegations of ”gross misconduct” leveled against him.

But the House has yet to state the reason for his removal.

Ogundeji was among the 18 lawmakers who left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in February 2017.
