Aliko Dangote Named First African Ambassador For Responsible Tourism

United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO’s) has named Aliko Dangote the first African Ambassador for responsible tourism.

Secretary-General for UNTWO, Zurab Pololikashvili conferred this title on Africa’s richest man in the 61st Regional Commission meeting for Africa, which held in Abuja, Nigeria.

Pololikashvili said, “with this appointment, Dangote is added to the list of personalities named by UNWTO as Ambassadors for Responsible Tourism, whom we hope will act as messengers of our legacy and vision across the globe.”

Aliko Dangote is the founder of Dangote Group of companies, a group which has become a known conglomerate in Africa and across the continent.

The businessman also began the Dangote foundation which is aimed at providing basic amenities to the needy and vulnerable people on the continent.
