Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has condemned the alleged attack on his counterpart in Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose and the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti, Professor Kolapo Olusola on Wednesday.

Fayose had accused policemen deployed in Ekiti state for the governorship election on Saturday of harassing him where the PDP was holding its rally on Wednesday.

While condemning the alleged attack, he said it is a pointer to what Nigerians should expect in the build-up to the 2019 elections.

Wike said this on Wednesday while addressing journalists at the Rivers state Government house in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

He also noted that his state may suffer the same fate, and therefore, called on the people to be alert.

Wike, however, urged the people of Ekiti and supporters of the PDP not to allow the incident dampen their morale ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
