FG to meet with ASUU leadership over lingering strike

The Federal Government (FG) says it will meet with the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Thursday in continuation of efforts to resolve the ongoing strike by the lecturers.

Sen. Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment, said this on Wednesday in Abuja, in a statement by Mrs Iliya Rhoda, Deputy Director, Press in the ministry.

“This is in furtherance to efforts at resolving the on-going industrial action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

“The conciliatory meeting with the executive of ASUU is scheduled to hold Thursday, Feb. 7,” he said.

ASUU is striking for the implementation of agreement entered into by the government with the union.
