Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has been appointed as a member of the new class of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) advocates by the United Nation (UN).

UN secretary-general, Antonio Guterres, disclosed this through Farhan Haq, his spokesman, at a news conference in New York on Thursday.

Okay Nigeria understands that the SDG advocates are 17 influential public figures committed to “raising awareness, inspiring greater ambition, and pushing for faster action on the SDGs.”

Sanusi is one of the six new members of the group, which is co-chaired by President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana and Erna Solberg, prime minister of Norway.

It can be recalled that Governor Ganduje signed a bill passed by the Kano state Assembly for creation of four new Emirates in the state.

The state will now have 5 Emirates; Kano Emirate, Rano Emirate, Gaya Emirate, Karaye and Bichi Emirate Councils.
