The Bayelsa state government has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to shift the governorship election slated for November 2nd, 2019.

Okay Nigeria learned that deputy governor of Bayelsa, Gboribiogha Jonah, made the call when he led a delegation of the state government on a courtesy visit to INEC on Tuesday.

He said that the election would clash with the state’s annual thanksgiving which has the backing of the law and had been on for the past seven years.

Responding to the demand, INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, said that the electoral commission will deliberate on their request.
