Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Kwara State Governor-elect, has denied submitting fake West African Examination Council (WAEC) certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to contest the 2019 governorship election in the state.

Lawal Jimoh, the counsel to Abdulrazaq, during a High Court sitting in Ilorin on Tuesday said that his client graduated from Government College, Kaduna in June 1976 as stated in the certificate.

Adekunle Abraham, the member of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Apado ward, Ilorin East LGA, instituted the suit.

Speaking to newsmen after the court session, the claimant’s lawyer said that Abdulrazaq’s lawyer was yet to file a defence but only filed a memorandum of appearance for his client.

Meanwhile, Jimoh, counsel to Abdulrazaq, said his client was served notice of the suit on May 2 and appearance was filed immediately.

Justice Adenike Akinpelu adjourned the case to June 10 for mention.
