The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) says it has commenced investigation into allegations of rape levelled against the General Overseer of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo.

The religious organisation through its Special Assistant, Media and Communications, Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, said CAN has reached out to the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) on the issue.

It can be recalled that Busola, wife of Nigerian singer, Timi Dakolo, accused the pastor of rape severally, Fatoyinbo had denied the allegation saying he has never raped anyone before.

However, CAN said in a statement that the matter is being investigated.

“The Christian Association of Nigeria as a body, condemns any case of rape in strong terms, it doesn’t matter who is involved.

“It is ungodly, wicked, and reprehensible. However, on the allegations against Pastor Abiodun Fatoyinbo, we have no details about the matter other than what we are reading on the social media, this is not reliable and credible evidence enough to jump into a conclusion.

“The CAN Leadership, therefore, has reached out to the leadership of the block which the Pastor in question belongs with a view to getting to the root of the matter. This will help us to make the right decision on the issue,” the statement reads.
