Nigeria Customs suspends supply of fuel to filling stations at land borders

The Nigeria Customs has suspended the supply of petroleum products to filling stations within 20km to the land borders.

Okay.ng understands that the comptroller general of Customs, Hameed Ali, issued this directive in a circular dated November 6 to its officers stationed around the borders.

The memo issued to the officers reads in quotes underneath:

“The Comptroller — General of Customs has directed that henceforth no petroleum product no matter the tank size is permitted to be discharged in any filling station within 20 kilometers to the Boarder.

“Consequently, you are all to ensure strict and immediate compliance, please.”

Since October, the land borders of Nigeria have been closed to all imports and exports of goods in a move to combat the issue of rice smuggling.
