A Court of Appeal sitting in Kaduna has affirmed the election of Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, as Governor of Kaduna State.
INEC had declared El-Rufai as the winner of the March 9th, 2019 gubernatorial election in Kaduna State.
Isah Ashiru, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the party approached the appeal court challenging the ruling of the lower tribunal.
In the petition filed by the PDP and Ashiru challenged the tribunal ruling on the grounds that the election was flawed with massive fraud and irregularities.
However, in a unanimous judgement delivered by Justice Olumuyiwa Aburu, the appellate court upheld the judgement of the tribunal which dismissed the petition of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Isah Ashiru for lacking in merit.
