Protesters on Wednesday besieged the National Assembly against the Hate Speech Bill and Social Media Bill.

Okay.ng understands that the protesters are also asking for the immediate release of Omoyele Sowore who has been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Many protesters were holding placards with inscriptions like “#SAY NO TO SOCIAL MEDIA BILL” and “#SAY NO TO HATE SPEECH BILL”.

It can be recalled that former Senate spokesman, Senator Abdullahi Sabi, presented the bill at the floor seeking to set up a commission for the prohibition of hate speeches.

The bill has already passed the first and second reading with the support of Senators at the Red Chambers.
