Facebook on Thursday removed a deceptive advertisement sponsored by President Donald Trump for his reelection.

Vanita Gupta, president of a coalition of NGOs defending rights (Leadership Conference on Civil and Human) disclosed this on Twitter.

She tweeted: “I just received an email from Facebook saying that they were going to remove Trump’s misleading ads.”

The sponsored posts labeled as “census” was taking people to a campaign page of the president.

Facebook said in a statement that it was enforcing its policies to prevent confusion over the 2020 census, which begins next week for most people.

“There are policies in place to prevent confusion around the official U.S. Census and this is an example of those being enforced,” the Facebook statement said.

Vanita Gupta in a press released added that “While we are pleased that Facebook has ended Donald Trump’s attempt to confuse how and when to participate in the 2020 census, it is disturbing that the advertisements were not immediately removed.”
