The police have confirmed the arrest of Prof. Zainab Duke Abiola and her domestic staff, comprising the housemaid Rebecca Enechido, and a male suspect at large.

Okay.ng reports that the trio grievously assaulted a female officer, Inspector Teju Moses, an act condemned by the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba.

A statement on Thursday by Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi announced that Zainab and Rebecca had been arrested.

Zainab, a legal practitioner, human rights activist, and others assaulted her orderly on Tuesday at her residence in Garki, Abuja.

The attack followed the refusal of the orderly to breach professional ethics by carrying out menial and domestic chores at her house.

The video showing Inspector Teju in pain, with a blooding face, is trending on social media.

Adejobi announced the IGP has directed the immediate prosecution of the suspects in custody.

The spokesman said the preliminary investigation “shows overwhelming evidence of culpability on the part of the Professor and her domestic staff”.

The IGP further tasked the investigative team to ensure that the fleeing suspect was arrested and made to face the wrath of the law.

“Prof. Zainab name-drops the IGP, his family members, and other officers in the top hierarchy of the Force. She has no acquaintance with the Police in any form as erroneously peddled on social media”, Adejobi added.

Baba, who expressed dismay that an individual who claims to be an advocate for human rights violated the rights of another individual, also withdrew the police personnel attached to the scholar.
