The High social-cultural entity of Ijaw ethnic nationality, Ijaw National Congress INC, headed by Prof.Benjamin Okaba has warned the government of the federation against the claim to remove the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP.

INC through the national publicity secretary of the organization, Ezoenebi Oyakemeagbegha, cautions that the elimination of PAP would result in the youths trying to take a turn at militancy in the Niger Delta.

According to INC, “it is vital to mark that the PAP, which was created after the ex-agitators gave up their weapons in 2009 was recalled to have brought lasting peace in the Niger Delta region as well as huge improvement of undisturbed oil exploration and drilling.

While expressive pleasure and applauding Maj – Gen Barry Ndiomu (retd) on his recent appointment to serve as the Interim Admin of PAP, the congress said it was worth it, owing to the vast knowledge and experience in command and other related staff duties acquired by Ndiomu his service in the Nigerian Army.

INC also praised president Mohammadu Buhari for the appointment and expressed belief in the appointee being able to deliver on the basis of the programme in all capacities.

Notwithstanding, the INC strongly advised Ndiomu not to play to the gallery but keep to the vision and mission of the programme as well as making serious efforts towards handling official duties and other responsibilities placed on his shoulders with seriousness in order to take the Amnesty Programme to the next level.

INC, further said they are ready to work hand in hand with the federal government to find vital means to build the potency of the Amnesty Programme and make it more relevant to the ex-agitators and the communities of the Niger-Delta in general
