The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has introduced a new service that allows taxpayers to obtain their Tax Clearance Certificate with a single click through its Taxpro Max platform.

The Taxpro Max, which was launched in June 2021, is an all-in-one solution for tax-related tasks, including registration, filing returns, making payments, and requesting clearance certificates.

The FIRS announced the new feature on Tuesday via social media, stating that the process of obtaining a Tax Clearance Certificate, which previously took two weeks, can now be completed instantly by the taxpayer. This development is part of the FIRS’s efforts to fully automate its tax administration processes.

The FIRS’s Executive Chairman, Muhammad Nami, emphasized that the new feature is in line with the organization’s goal of becoming customer-centric and improving the ease of doing business in Nigeria. “One of our objectives as a Service is to build a Customer-Centric institution,” he stated.

“That means an institution that has the customer at the heart of its innovations and solutions. It is for this reason that we have tuned the operations of our TaxPro Max solution to be able to deliver Tax Clearance Certificates in the shortest possible time to taxpayers. At the click of a button, a taxpayer will get their Tax Clearance Certificates, as long as they have no outstanding liabilities. This would impact in no small measure on the Ease of Doing Business in Nigeria.”

He also reminded taxpayers that they must meet certain conditions, such as not having any outstanding liabilities, to use the Taxpro Max platform and generate their Tax Clearance Certificate.

Nami concluded by thanking taxpayers for their contributions to the country’s development and wishing them a happy and prosperous new year. He also encouraged governments at all levels to provide value to taxpayers for their money.
