The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi promised to stamp out corruption from Nigeria and restructure the country’s security governance structure to make it work if elected.

Obi, who promised to block all areas of revenue leakages, said corruption was hindering the country from realising its full potential.

He made the pledge during a meeting with Southern Kaduna traditional rulers, Muslims and Christians in Kagoro, Kafanchan of Kaura and Jema’a local government areas respectively in the southern part of the state.

“Nigeria is the only country with membership in OPEC but is not producing oil. We need to move from consumption to production. We need to start saving to rebuild our country.”

According to him, the creativity and productivity of youths and women made them well-placed to transform society.

The presidential candidate also promised to prioritise education, health and agriculture in turning around the fortunes of the country.

On the issue of security, the presidential hopeful pledged to lead from the front with his running mate Datti.

In their remarks, representatives of the religious bodies, Apostle Emmanuel Nuhu Kure, Vision Pioneer of Throne Room Ministry and Chief Imam of Jama’a Emirate, Alhaji Muhammed Kabir Kassim appreciated Obi for identifying with Southern Kaduna.

They appealed to the presidential candidate to site federal projects in Southern Kaduna to give the zone a sense of belonging.

Also in his remarks, the Chief of Kagoro, Ufuwai Bonet, appreciated Obi for identifying with the people of Southern Kaduna and prayed to God for leaders that will address the numerous challenges confronting the country.
