Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed his sympathy for the deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos, Funke Akindele, following the death of her mother, Dr Adebanjo-Akindele.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, on Tuesday, the governor acknowledged the difficulty in finding the right words to console someone who has lost a loved one.

Governor Sanwo-Olu stated, “My heart goes out to Funke and the friends and families of the Adebanjo and Akindele families on the loss of their daughter, mother, and grandmother, Dr RB Adebanjo-Akindele. Death of loved ones is a painful episode, but we must find comfort in the beautiful memories left behind.”

He added, “On behalf of my family and the people of Lagos State, I express my heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of Adebanjo and Akindele. May God grant the soul of the departed eternal rest and give the families the fortitude to bear the loss.”

The governor also urged Funke Akindele to be comforted by the good life her mother lived and to pray for her repose.

“We should relish in the beautiful memories the deceased left behind for us,” he said.
