INEC Declares Sanwo-Olu Re-elected Governor of Lagos State

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been re-elected for a second term in office, following a closely contested election that took place over the weekend.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Sanwo-Olu as the winner of the election after he polled a total of 762,134 votes, which was more than twice the number of votes obtained by his closest rival, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party, who scored 312,329 votes.

Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, came in third place with 62,449 votes.

The announcement of Sanwo-Olu’s victory was made by the INEC returning officer, Adenike Temidayo Oladiji, at about 1:15 am on Monday morning.
