Tottenham Hotspur Football Club has announced that manager Antonio Conte has parted ways with the club “by mutual consent.”

The decision came as the team struggles to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Conte, who took over the London side in November 2021, had a rocky relationship with the club’s hierarchy.

He launched into a furious rant about the team’s lack of ambition after their 3-3 draw with Southampton before the international break.

The Italian leaves Spurs in fourth place in the Premier League table, but with only a slim two-point lead over fifth-placed Newcastle, who have two games in hand. This puts Tottenham’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League in serious doubt.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has issued a statement, saying, “We have 10 Premier League games remaining, and we have a fight on our hands for a Champions League place. We all need to pull together. Everyone has to step up to ensure the highest possible finish for our club and amazing, loyal supporters.”

Conte’s assistant Cristian Stellini will take over as caretaker manager until the end of the season. Stellini previously filled in for Conte on the touchline earlier this season when the 53-year-old was recovering from gallbladder surgery.

Former Tottenham midfielder Ryan Mason, who briefly served as the club’s interim boss in 2021, will take over as assistant coach.
