Herbert Wigwe, the Group Managing Director of Access Bank, has assumed the leadership of the France Nigeria Business Council following the completion of Abdul Samad Rabiu’s successful two-term tenure.

In a ceremony held today in Paris, Rabiu, the pioneer chairman and founder of BUA Group, officially handed over the reins to Wigwe, marking a significant transition in the history of the Council.

Under Rabiu’s leadership, the France Nigeria Business Council achieved remarkable accomplishments in strengthening business relations between France and Nigeria, facilitating mutual growth and prosperity.

During his tenure, the Council organized two France-Nigeria Business Forums in Paris, along with a meeting in Lagos and a session in Paris last year.

These events played a crucial role in fostering fruitful partnerships between French and Nigerian businesses, resulting in increased trade and investment between the two countries.

Moreover, Rabiu prioritized initiatives aimed at promoting collaboration among the brightest minds of both nations and nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs.

Through various programs and support, the Council actively encouraged innovation and entrepreneurship, contributing to the overall development of the business landscape in France and Nigeria.

In his farewell address, Rabiu expressed his gratitude to the Council members, President Emmanuel Macron, and other stakeholders for their unwavering support during his tenure.

He also acknowledged the outstanding service of Jean Haas, the Secretary of the Council, who will continue to serve under the new leadership.

The newly appointed President, Herbert Wigwe, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his role. As a seasoned banker and a prominent figure in the Nigerian banking sector, Wigwe is well-equipped to lead the Council towards new heights.

Rabiu expressed his confidence in Wigwe, highlighting his profound understanding of the global financial landscape and his ability to navigate complex business environments.

As Wigwe embarks on his new position, Council members have pledged their support and commitment to fostering sustainable and inclusive economic growth for both France and Nigeria.

The France-Nigeria Business Council serves as a vital platform for collaboration, innovation, and partnership between the two nations. It aims to create an environment conducive to mutual growth and prosperity, paving the way for a stronger and more robust business relationship between France and Nigeria.
