In response to the recent surge in transport fares due to the removal of fuel subsidies, the Kwara State government has implemented a temporary measure to alleviate the burden on public workers.

The Head of Service for the state, Mrs. Susan Oluwole, announced the decision in a statement issued on Monday.

According to the statement, the State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has directed that the workweek be reduced from five days to three days for all government employees.

This measure aims to ease the hardship experienced by state workers as a result of the fuel subsidy removal, which was recently announced by the Federal Government.

Mrs. Oluwole further explained that all Heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in the state have been instructed to develop a format indicating the alternating work days for each worker under their purview.

This will ensure a smooth transition to the new schedule and allow for proper planning and coordination within the government institutions.

While announcing this palliative, Mrs. Oluwole cautioned the workers against taking advantage of the Governor’s benevolence.

She emphasized that her office would intensify the regular monitoring of MDAs to ensure strict compliance with the reduced workweek directive.
